On the chassis of the Mercedes-Benz 170 was the entry into the contemporary luxury class from 1951 offered by Mercedes. The Economic Miracle in West Germany also announced itself that there was another Mercedes for the wealthy, or at least for those who were already on their way to be wealthy.
The Mercedes-Benz 220 Cabrio A is something like the sport version (2 + 2), the Cabrio B still has a clear optical relationship with the carriage style of the limousines before the Second World War.
The 220 is at any rate a true Mercedes classic with all the virtues for which this brand stood at the time: hand-built with meticulous gaze for the details, solid, partly noble, but always a touch of Swabian baroque that does not lay it on thick, but rather impresses qualitatively upon closer examination.

Dealing with oldtimern on a proffessional basis - the replacement of convertible tops - has brought me in touch with a lot of different cars and different customers within the last thirty years - during a time in which the perception of oldtimers has changed significantly.
